Leoson Hoay

Hello there! I am a Technical Lead and Lead Data Scientist at the University of Chicago Urban Labs. I am passionate about leveraging technology to solve human problems and to advance social good, and have many years of experience in hiring for analytic and data science teams, and extensive programming and statistical knowledge in my own capacity as a data scientist.

I also believe strongly in interdisciplinary collaboration and learning, which is something I try to foster in my teams. I personally have an interdisciplinary background - receiving my undergraduate training in Psychology and New Media, and Linguistics and Computer Science in graduate school - and have been at different times of my life an interaction designer, a mental health professional, and a data engineer.

I enjoy supporting individuals who are looking to break into tech and data science, regardless of their background! In my sessions, I will bring the resources and best practices I've personally used during my career and tailor them to your specific needs.
