👋 Hello! I'm Matt Spear.
As an iOS Engineer with a rich experience of over 10 years and an innate curiosity that led me to build my first app in 2015, I thrive at the intersection of innovation, learning, and technology.
With a Computer Science degree from the University of Manchester, my work spans iOS development, fullstack web, and now the cutting edge of AI agents and tooling.
I'm currently CTO at cuemarc.com, an AI-powered brand tracking tool, and building SaaS side projects like asksite.co. I was an early adopter of OpenClaw (back when it was Clawdbot) and work daily with AI-native tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, MCPs, and agentic workflows. I'm not just following the AI wave – I'm building with it and shipping real products.
My achievements include interning at Apple in Developer Relations, where I had the privilege of traveling and assisting developers globally in adopting new technologies. My accelerated learning at Apple honed my ability to share knowledge effectively. I also earned 3x WWDC Student Scholarships, an App Store feature, and published a research paper in the SLAM/computer vision space at the University of Manchester.
My mentoring journey began organically. I was once an attendee at CodeUp, where I was helped to build my first iOS app. The experience was transformative, and later, I returned to CodeUp as a mentor. Since then, I have relished every opportunity to share knowledge through talks, workshops, and one-on-one sessions.
My mentoring style is goal-oriented, collaborative, and adaptive. I believe in having a clear objective, whether it’s launching an app, building an MVP, setting up an AI agent workflow or working through a course. I cherish the process of diving into problems as equals, learning alongside my mentees, and sharing resources and tools generously. My ultimate aim is to create immense value, and I eagerly adapt my style based on mentee feedback.
Whether you're a junior developer trying to land your first iOS role, a founder building an MVP, or an engineer figuring out how to integrate AI into your workflow – I can help you get unstuck and ship.
I specialise in iOS development (Swift, SwiftUI), AI (agents, OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, RAG, prompt engineering), Fullstack web development (Next.js, Typescript, tRPC, Vercel) and AI tooling (OpenClaw setup & consulting, Claude Code, Cursor, MCP integrations). If you’re looking to set career goals, build products, learn new tools, or need a partner in navigating the world of tech, let’s connect and embark on this journey together! 🚀
5 out of 5 stars
I had the privilege of being mentored by Matt, an outstanding Senior iOS Engineer with many years of experience. His passion for technology and innovation is truly contagious, and he has a remarkable ability to impart knowledge with clarity and precision. Through his guidance, I was able to grasp the concept of Swift/Swift UI in a very short time and I am very grateful for Matt's support and highly recommend him as a mentor for anyone looking to excel in this field.
