Hello! I believe great software is built by people who feel heard, supported, and free to do their best work. And that code is art - don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
If this resonates with you, I hope you will reach out! With nearly 10 years of professional software experience across the public and private sectors, I have seen a wide range of systems and cultures. I've seen many teams that excelled and a few that struggled.
At the end of the day, the personal relationships I developed with other engineers have been the most rewarding part of my career. I hope we can develop a similar rapport if we get the chance to work together.
I come to MentorCruise as an experienced online mentor and tutor, with more than 300 hours of 1:1 mentorship, instruction, and guidance. I specialize in helping early-career engineers build confidence and technical clarity. My experience as a senior engineer and an engineering manager have given me insight into how to build and launch new full-stack systems as well as how to prioritize work, communicate with stakeholders, and maintain a positive morale in an organization.
My mentorship is highly project-based. Whether you're learning Python, Rust, or software engineering more broadly, I believe the best way to grow is by building real things and developing a deeper understanding of how systems work under the hood.
My technical interests lie in the interface between high-level and low-level code: think compilers, programming language design, and computer architecture. These days, I'm rebuilding Python from scratch in Rust to better understand every layer of the stack, from source code and parsing to bytecode execution and virtual machines.
If you're curious, book an intro call! I'd love to hear where you're at and where you'd like to go.
