Abeer Khalique

I'm an award-winning product design leader based in New York City, serving as the first Director of Product Design at the National Basketball Association (NBA). I led a team that created the NBA app that millions of fans use every day around the world.

Prior joining the NBA, I held design leadership roles at Oscar Health, Fuigo, Resident Home, Ready Set Rocket, and Havas Worldwide — showcasing a blend of user-centered design and product strategy at scale . My expertise has been recognized through various speaking engagements and awards, including the NBA Commissioner’s Award for Innovation in 2022 and a Sports Emmy Nomination in 2023.

I’ve spent a portion of my career mentoring designers from all different parts of their career: from a junior designer landing their first role, a mid-level designer aiming for a promotion, to managing a team and working with executives.

Together, we can work on mastering design fundamentals, honing leadership skills, navigating career transitions, or solving specific challenges you’re facing in your role. My mentoring style is conversational, tailored to your needs, and focused on practical, actionable advice. Also, we will also have a good time (ask my previous mentees).
