Hi there!, I am Ashish Khatkar. I’ve spent the last 8+ years working in software engineering, with strong track record of success at Yelp, Microsoft, and Flipkart. My focus has always been on distributed systems, stream processing, and backend development. I’m currently a Staff Software Engineer and Technical Lead at Yelp. I'm part of Stream Processing team where I’ve led a bunch of projects, including modernizing our Flink Stream Processing platform.

Over the years, I’ve gotten comfortable with a range of tech, including Flink, Kafka, AWS, GoLang, Python, and more. I’ve worked on building scalable systems and making life easier for developers by streamlining processes. Leading teams and setting technical direction has been a big part of what I do, but I’ve always loved the hands-on problem-solving side as well.

Mentoring and helping others is something I’ve been involved with for a long time. At Yelp, I’ve had the opportunity to mentor many engineers, helping them grow both technically and in their careers. Back in college, I was the Admin of the Programming Club at IIIT Delhi, where I ran classes on algorithms and data structures and set up coding competitions. I’ve also given talks on advanced topics like Segment Trees at platforms like HackerEarth and Codeshala.

Outside of work, I’ve been involved in teaching as a volunteer with Teach for India, where I helped teach spoken English to underprivileged students. Mentoring, whether it’s helping someone prep for an interview or guiding them through technical challenges, is something I’ve always enjoyed.
