About

My experience: I have 9+ years of consulting/agency experience, 5+ of which have spanned the fields of UX Research, Human-centered Design, and Behavioral Science. I made a mid-career pivot into UX & Design Consulting from Marketing (I know how tough a mid-career pivot can be!).

How I'll help you: I can provide mentorship on upskilling in behavioral science/how to apply it to your UX work, career pivots (breaking into UX, full-time to freelance/self-employment, etc.), unconventional career paths, battling imposter syndrome, whether to pursue a Master's/PhD in behavioral science vs. a training program, finding fully remote work/becoming a digital nomad, working abroad, and many more topics!

What I've done: I've conducted end-to-end, cross-cultural research studies across 12 countries both at Accenture and in my independent consulting work. I also worked abroad for 4 years in Mexico. I'm passionate about voicing the unique needs of systemically under-resourced populations, including people with chronic conditions.

Past clients: 2 FAANG companies, and 4 Fortune 500 companies in Healthcare and Consumer Goods.

What I'm up to now: I'm an independent UX Research & Behavior Design consultant running my own business. I'm also a digital nomad, working fully remotely while traveling.

Education: I earned my Master's degree in Behavioral & Decision Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Duke University.

What mentees say

5 out of 5 stars

Emilia has been such a great mentor to work with, and I have been extremely pleased with the experience! She is incredibly knowledgeable in UX research and brings a thoughtful, realistic perspective that I truly value. As a beginner UXR trying to break into the field, I sometimes struggle with impostor syndrome, and Emilia consistently approaches those moments with empathy, reassurance, and clarity. She listens carefully to both my UX research questions and my personal career journey, and she is also very responsive and reliable. Her response time is consistently quick, which makes a big difference when I am working through portfolio updates or feeling stuck and need timely guidance when I am not sure about something. Currently, we are reviewing my portfolio together, and her feedback has been especially impactful. She provides clear, actionable advice on strengthening my case studies, improving storytelling, and understanding how hiring managers evaluate work. Because of her mentorship, I feel more confident in my direction and better equipped to take meaningful next steps in my UX research career! I look forward to our meetings!

Making the transition from graduation to the workplace can be challenging, but Emilia has been incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout this mentorship. She takes the time to understand my goals and offers helpful guidance. I also really appreciate how open and approachable she is—it makes it easy to ask questions and learn from her. Her support has made a real difference in how I approach my job search and the interview process. Specifically, she has guided me on how to tailor my resume and portfolio to hiring managers/companies. I really appreciate the time and insight she has put into helping me grow professionally.
