About

I spent five years at Google in Operations and Program Management, and for much of that I was the least technical person in the room. So I can share what it takes to translate your varied skills and experience into highly impactful activity.

The project that defines that skillset is Google Arts & Culture, which I co-founded. It began as a partnership with 17 cultural institutions and a team of three. By the time I moved on it had grown to over 1,000 partner organisations and 50 people. Little of that growth came from engineering - it came from operations, relationship management, and program design.

After Google I ran an immersive media studio, did strategic advisory work for startups, and eventually founded Signal Code, where I help non-technical professionals get into big tech. Most of the people I work with aren't unqualified - they're describing their experience in a way that doesn't land with a tech hiring team. Closing that gap tends to move things faster than people expect.

I work best with people in program management, marketing operations, or partner-facing roles who are targeting large tech companies. If you're at the stage of wondering whether you could actually get one of those roles, or grow within it, the answer is probably yes - and the gap is narrower than it looks.
