My name is Jimmy and I'm looking forward to working with you.
For my education I went to UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (essentially Computer Science). I ended with a GPA of 3.677. I've worked as a Software Engineer for 5 years at Meta and 1 year at Google.
In addition to 6+ years of technical industry experience at Meta and Google, I've got about as much tutoring experience as well. This platform seems more targeted to post-college mentorship, but feel free to inquire about my total range of tutoring experience. On this platform, I've worked with 1 mentee so far and we've gone over approaches to solving LeetCode style problems. In addition to general interview tips.
My general approach is empathy based. I know what it's like first hand to struggle with new concepts, especially at a young age. I have the compassion to seek to understand where the student is struggling. I have the patience to revisit concepts not yet mastered. I'll keep us on track, but if I sense the need for a short break, I will suggest one. A mentee's mental health comes before their academic or career success is my policy, so I will have to turn you away if our philosophies differ here. But rest assured, I am not laid back. I will do what I can to excite mentees about the material they are learning, and motivate them to keep learning and growing.
I am most comfortable with mentoring sessions in the direction of LeetCode style questions with a preference for Python, but please still inquire if you have a request outside of that scope.
I respond within 24 hours, usually within 12.
You tell Jimmy your goals. They see exactly what you want to work on before session one.
You meet within days. Jimmy reviews your application and books your first session, usually within a day or two.
You leave with a plan. Concrete next steps and a weekly rhythm from your very first week.
