About

After 40 years in the IT industry, mostly in Data Management and Architecture in large companies such as PayPal, eBay and Cisco, I recently retired and want to give back to the community. Having worked with thousands of professionals in the USA, India, Brunei and the Middle East, I have successfully mentored hundreds of Men and Women over long periods both in person and virtually, I am eager, willing and capable of mentoring you, whether on a professional or personal basis.

My approach to Mentoring is simple, yet effective: I connect with you as a Person, not just as an Engineer or Professional, to first listen and understand both your current state and challenges. I will then help you and guide you to finding the right solution(s) and approaches. To use a metaphor, I will "Teach you to Fish", not just talk to you about bait and tackle and fishing rods... Along the way, we will also look at integrating your Life with your Work, and find that balance that we all crave...

At 60+, I have seen it all - Loss, Massive change, Successes and Failures, Dislocation and Disruption, and yet remain standing humbly, shaped by these experiences. I am a husband of one, father of two and grandfather of three and live in Beautiful San Diego, California. I am also an author, editor, speaker at tech conferences and can help you speak, write and express yourself with grace and confidence.

4 out of 5 stars

I am very grateful for the time I had with my mentor, even if, unfortunately, it was less than I would have liked. That was mostly on my side, as I was very busy and not always able to dedicate the attention and continuity that this mentoring relationship deserved. Despite that, every interaction we had was meaningful and valuable. What I appreciated most was his wisdom and calmness. He has a way of looking at things with perspective, without rushing to conclusions, and that created a space where conversations felt thoughtful and grounded. I always felt that he was bringing not only knowledge, but also balance. That made a real difference. I also really enjoyed the breadth of his experience. Our discussions could move naturally from technical topics to broader questions about work, decision-making, mindset, and even more philosophical reflections. That range is rare and extremely valuable. It made the mentoring experience richer than a simple exchange of advice, because it helped me think not only about specific problems, but also about how I approach challenges more generally. Another quality I appreciated was his ability to listen carefully and respond with maturity and clarity. He did not try to impose views, but instead shared experience in a way that helped me reflect and form my own perspective. I found that approach very supportive and intellectually generous. Looking back, I only wish I had been able to invest more time in the relationship, because I believe I could have learned even more from him. That said, even with the limited time we had, I took away a lot from our exchanges. His presence as a mentor was steady, insightful, and reassuring. Overall, I have a very positive impression of this mentoring experience. I appreciated his calm, his wisdom, and his wide experience across many different topics. I am thankful for the time he dedicated to me, and I would have gladly spent more time learning from him.
