Most engineers know the rules. Very few know the machine.
I did ML research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) under Prof. John Tsitsiklis, worked as a software engineer at Juniper Square, and I’m in the top 0.2% on LeetCode with 1,500+ problems solved.
For the past two years I’ve mentored senior engineers, tech leads, architects and PMs with 10 to 15+ years of experience, mostly in the US, some at the biggest firms in tech. Some wanted to go deeper in their craft. Others were making a switch into ML.
What I go deep on:
1. Python, at the level of CPython itself: object model, frames, bytecode, memory, the GIL, descriptors, metaclasses.
2. ML and LLMs from first principles: the math, the intuition, and why things work.
3. DSA as pattern recognition, not memorization
4. System design trade-offs and failure modes
5. Career switches: SWE to ML, senior to staff
How I teach: No tutorials. We build the mental model, open up the internals, then break it with edge cases until you could re-derive it yourself. If your answer is almost right but conceptually wrong, I’ll find the exact crack.
In an age where AI writes the code, understanding is what keeps you irreplaceable.
I also create Demagicked, a channel that explains CS and ML from first principles.
You tell Kumar your goals. They see exactly what you want to work on before session one.
You meet within days. Kumar reviews your application and books your first session, usually within a day or two.
You leave with a plan. Concrete next steps and a weekly rhythm from your very first week.

What's included in the trial?
Every trial is a little different–here's what Kumar says about their trial:
We'll meet for a quick call (usually under 30 minutes) where we:
- Break the ice and introduce ourselves
- Discuss your goals and how I can support you
- Coordinate logistics like time zones, meeting frequency, and communication methods
