One-off sessions with Michael
One-off sessions are a great option if you’re looking for specific advice on a certain topic.
If you're looking for a mentor, and you're just not sure about how this all works – this one is for you. In a casual, informal introductory call, a mentor will introduce themselves, show you around the platform, explain how our mentorships work, and explain …
Some big interviews coming up? In this 1-hour session, a mentor with hiring experience will act as a technical interviewer and ask you some standard hiring questions that you might hear in one of your future interview too, and will evaluate your replies. As a …
Whatever doesn't fit the mold: Get a full hour with a mentor to discuss your needs. Be it help with coding something, creating a software architecture, deciding on a strategy for your business or working in pairs. If you don't know whether what you want …
I have 9.5 years of full-time, non-internship experience at Amazon. I started off as a new grad Software Development Engineer in Amazon Marketplace, working with the Marketplace Fulfillment Network organization to help worldwide third-party sellers access logistics services to compete with Amazon Retail. Any label or document that went inside or onto an Amazon package that was NOT shipped by Amazon, I have some idea into how it was built. I spent 4.5 years here, and built a team of (from 10 to) 30 engineers.
In 2019, I moved into the compatibility space, spending the next four years helping customers shopping on Amazon better understand what products were compatible with particular accessories, and answer fitment questions like "does X fit Y?". I built an automated compatibility dataset publisher and was promoted into an L6 role ("Senior Software Engineer"), leading a team of 15 engineers across three teams.
In Nov. 2023, I switched to AWS, now working as the Senior Developer Advocate for DynamoDB.
On the side, I am a current:
- interviewing Bar Raiser with over 200 interviews;
- member of the Professional Development Committee on the Asians at Amazon Global Board,
Many years ago, I helped write technical content for the Amazon Online Assessment (OA), which is now used for all hiring efforts across the company. I have mentored dozens of engineers, growing their careers and empowering them to cultivate a growth mindset.
Mentorship takes the form of "whatever you think you need help with most" - and if you don't know, that's OK too - we can figure that out!
My primary mock interview offerings are for technical/behavioural mock interviews and mock system design interviews. I CANNOT help with mock coding interviews at this time.
