I'm Sam, a long time full stack engineer and recent CTO based in the UK.
I've worked for smaller web agencies and for larger financial companies such as American Express and Legal & General, and I've transitioned from developing in dated languages like Perl to more structured languages and frameworks such as Java and Angular 2.
I spent time building websites as a freelancer, developing software as a permanent employee and as a contractor, and I recently co-founded a sports app company, ATHLEET, where I currently serve as CTO, so I know what it's like to invest in making big career changes.
More than anything, I enjoy leading development teams and coaching people into new software development careers.

I was unemployed and needed someone to help me brush up my skills while I was looking for a job. I'm so lucky I found Sam to help me. Sam was flexible and generous with his time. He gave me great advice about Angular that I wouldn't have gotten researching on my own. Instead of just getting things to work, I now have a better understanding of RESTful design, best practices for observables, and just more confidence in making good decisions while using Angular. Sam went out of his way to find me good resources and thoroughly explain concepts. He took time between lessons to code review my work and was gentle in his corrections. He was kind and insightful into what misunderstandings I had that he could address. He also offered good advice for my job search and helped me go through the listings I was applying for. It was a great experience! After a few weeks of working with Sam, I had to complete some technical assessments for a job applications. I was much better able to take on the front end of these assessments thanks to what I had learned from Sam, and passed both assessments. I am not sure I would have gotten a job if I hadn't had had him to boost my understanding.
