Based on 2 verified mentee reviews
I've been a top performing engineer and technical leader at a large energy company for over 17 years. I am extremely passionate about coaching, mentoring, and giving back to our engineering community. I help students, EITs and early to mid career engineers in two specific areas:
1) Anything related to rotating equipment. Machinery can be complicated and overwhelming. If you are looking to enhance your understanding of the operation, maintenance and/or design of rotating assets, please reach out. I have many years of experience in both upstream refining and power generation with significant emphasis in machinery instrumentation and controls. Asset types include: pumps, compressors (centrifugal, axial, reciprocating, screw), steam turbines and gas turbines.
2) If you are on the job hunt and struggling or frustrated with your current performance reviews, I would love to help you set goals and achieve them. As a previous technical hiring manager, I've seen a lot and am able to provide resume and interview guidance that will give you an edge. I also continually provide coaching to engineers on how to improve the value they provide to their organizations through things like how to influence in different situations, how to write effective emails, improving productivity, developing effective troubleshooting skills, etc.
If any of these topics are of interest to you, I'd love to chat about it and see if I can be of service.

Shannon is great! She helped me a lot, especially her method of communicating complex technical problems with non technical person is awesome.

5 out of 5 stars
Working with Shannon has been one of the most valuable learning experiences of my engineering career. Her depth of knowledge in rotating equipment—pumps, centrifugal compressors, mechanical seals, dry-gas seals, and machinery diagnostics has helped me build a solid foundation in both the equipment and the broader systems they support. She’s generous with her time and clear in explaining complex topics, especially around interpreting P&IDs from an operational perspective, diving into details like single vs. double suction impellers. That kind of hands-on insight has accelerated my development and I am very grateful for it. And we’ve only just scratched the surface. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn from her on screw compressors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels — and eventually branching into piping and stress analysis. Shannon’s mentorship stands out as a major influence on my growth as an engineer in the energy sector.
