Architect with 15 years at Microsoft and Apple, across embedded systems and Azure cloud. I've helped engineers ship at scale and grow into roles they didn't think were within reach yet.
My background spans the full stack: from device and embedded work where hardware constraints make every tradeoff real, to large-scale cloud architecture on Azure, where the challenges shift to distributed systems, reliability, and scale. That combination shapes how I think: hardware up, cloud down.
The engineers I work with are technically strong. What they're navigating is the transformation that comes with architecture: communicating across organizations, influencing teams and decisions without direct authority, and adapting how they think and talk about their work to match the level they're operating at. Those shifts don't happen automatically with a title change, they take deliberate practice.
I work best with senior engineers stepping into architecture roles, and junior engineers aiming for senior or staff. I don't come in with a fixed agenda. Sometimes you need a framework. Sometimes you need someone to think out loud with, and push back when it's useful. Either way, I'll meet you where you are.
If any of this resonates, reach out. Tell me where you are and where you're trying to get to, and we'll figure out if we're a good fit.
5 out of 5 stars
Let me start off by saying I was unsure if mentorship was right for me, going off luck I ended up picking Stefan and it has been the best experience I could’ve hoped for! He’s genuine and always willing to adapt his material for me to learn better (like when we talk about AI usage and how to keep yourself sharp). He’s got the technical acumen of working in big tech, excellent ability to listen to what I ask about, and is always available when I ask for his insight but most of all he’s able to break things down to a level I’m able to understand, even if I’m totally unfamiliar with them. He’s explained component design, research opportunities for me to get involved with, given advice for being a better software engineer, amazing career advice and all of this has been invaluable for me. If you’re like me and considering leveling up your skills in a friendly and approachable manner, I highly recommend Stefan.
