We have been meeting with Thomas for over a year now, and it has been a great experience. As a student searching for my first job in this field, my main goal has been to build a professional portfolio and get hired. Thomas has helped guide me through different phases of my journey. He has supported me in building my personal portfolio project, improving the project structure, writing cleaner code, and solving the bugs I have faced. He has also helped me create a professional portfolio and supported me through the many challenges I have encountered while applying for jobs. Thomas's mentoring was so effective that he ended up supporting me for 5-6 months across a number of projects. He offered insights at every level, from infrastructure and system design to semantic solutions and code quality best practices. We covered the consolidation of projects into a monorepo, updating codebases, improving and streamlining connections between the frontend and backend and solving errors across a number of frameworks. I gained a deeper understanding of TypeScript, Astro, and Svelte, as well as general JavaScript debugging techniques and inspect tools. I also learned how to properly manage work pressure, handle time management, and navigate contract negotiations. Thomas guided me through general code maintenance and best practices with Git, and we even took the time to nerd out about TypeScript efficiency and so much more. Beyond the technical, Thomas proved to be a great companion when taking on new projects. He is someone you can confide in, is incredibly wise, a pleasure to chat with, and always manages to brighten your day. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
