We'll meet for a quick call (usually under 30 minutes) where we:
- Break the ice and introduce ourselves
- Discuss your goals and how I can support you
- Coordinate logistics like time zones, meeting frequency, and communication methods
In the late 1990s I built a public website for my school at the time.
It was a true fascination that a kid from some tiny village in the middle of nowhere could do something that can be viewed by people everywhere which lead me to that project in the first place, and it is that same awe of technology that has kept me in this industry professionally since 2007.
Relevant technical skills are:
- Software architecture, infrastructure and development (Terraform, TypeScript, Vue, Svelte, Docker)
- API architecture, implementation and integration (REST/GRAPHQL using TypeScript, Go)
- Data modelling and data storage implementation (PostgreSQL, Supabase, ORM)
Complimentary skills are:
- Team leadership
- Development experience and ways of working in a technical team
- Threat modelling
- Code review
- Incident management and response
About the mentor ship journey:
We'll begin with an introduction call to get to know each other and begin to build a roadmap focused on your specific desires.
From there, I am available on a daily basis to answer any questions, and we would meet once a week for a call to follow our main progress or accomplish specific tasks like a code review, pair programming or career advice. Well, anything that is useful to you actually.

Thomas's mentoring was so effective that he ended up supporting me for 5-6 months across a number of projects. He offered insights at every level, from infrastructure and system design to semantic solutions and code quality best practices. We covered the consolidation of projects into a monorepo, updating codebases, improving and streamlining connections between the frontend and backend and solving errors across a number of frameworks. I gained a deeper understanding of TypeScript, Astro, and Svelte, as well as general JavaScript debugging techniques and inspect tools. I also learned how to properly manage work pressure, handle time management, and navigate contract negotiations. Thomas guided me through general code maintenance and best practices with Git, and we even took the time to nerd out about TypeScript efficiency and so much more. Beyond the technical, Thomas proved to be a great companion when taking on new projects. He is someone you can confide in, is incredibly wise, a pleasure to chat with, and always manages to brighten your day. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Great mentor, patience, kind, goes beyond the required. I had to stop for personal reasons. It took some time for me to understand what's the best way to work and what to focus on. I recommend you come ready with goals and be proactive to make the best of the process.
