Hi! My name is Ashvin and I currently work as a Senior Software Engineer with Robinhood based out of Seattle. I graduated from UCLA with a B.S in Computer Science in 2017 and worked at Microsoft as a software engineer for four years before joining Robinhood in 2022.
At UCLA, I was actively involved in helping build the tech/entrepreneurship community, leading organizations such as Bruin Entrepreneurs and LA Hacks, one of the largest collegiate hackathons in the U.S. These initiatives gave me the opportunity to get deeply engaged in a community of ambitious builders and helped me meet and build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and career paths, including engineering, design and venture capital. Being exposed to diversity in thought and experience gave me the clarity that (1) there are no defined career paths (2) there are a multitude of ways of defining "success" (3) there is a profound impact of building and maintaining relationships, in career and in life.
I had the experience of interning with a startup (SendGrid) and a big tech firm (Microsoft) while in school, before joining Microsoft full-time after graduating. At Microsoft, I worked in the Azure Data (SQL Server) organization, helping build database software and cloud infrastructure. This was an incredibly rewarding experience from a technical and career growth standpoint. I was able to engage with technical leaders in this field, and understand the workings of building products in an organization of massive scale.
Having had success in functioning in large-scale organization, I decided it was time for me to learn how teams and products were built at a smaller scale. The FinTech world excited me, and I joined Robinhood in 2022 as a Senior Software Engineer as part of their Storage team. It has been an exciting journey so far building critical infrastructure that spans the entire Robinhood platform, while working in a team and organization which is vastly different in scale and operation than Microsoft.
I am now seeking to help individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the technology industry, or who are early-in-career and could benefit from my experience.
On a personal front, I enjoy traveling, skiing, playing the drums, meeting new people and novel experiences!
