Hands-on support
As an engineering manager with more than 10 years of industry experience and 6 years in a leadership role, I would like to encourage and empower people who are interested in moving into technical management and developing leadership skills.
As a former software engineer, I understand the uncertainty you might feel when preparing for a technical leadership role. From being valued for your individual technical output to leading others through ambiguity, building team culture, and making decisions with incomplete information. I want to help people navigate that shift with more clarity and less self-doubt than I had.
My approach to mentorship is grounded in honest conversation and servant leadership. I care more about asking the right questions than giving prescriptive advice, because every path into leadership looks different. Whether you are trying to figure out if management is even right for you, preparing for your first role, or working through a specific challenge you are already facing, I am here to think through it with you.
Some of the areas I am most energised to explore with mentees include building psychological safety within teams, communicating across organisational layers, navigating the politics of technical decision-making, and sustaining your own growth while supporting others.
Being an Engineering Manager is such a rewarding role, while working closely with your reports and empowering them to grow and thrive, you own technical decisions and provide support to lead the team to decisions that require cross-functional collaboration. I can teach you the approach to to achieve that, while making everyone feel heard.
