Mikal Gule

I am a technologist, first and foremost. Technology to me is exciting. It fascinates me and it motivates me to learn more about practically everything. This curiosity has given me a broad range of experience by allowing me to constantly explore other technologies other than the ones I regularly work on. I have always loved to take things apart and figure out how they work.

As a leader I strive to teach, creating learning opportunities at every possible turn.

Before meeting my wife and moving to the US, I spent most of my career working for the central IT organization of the University of Oslo. In the US I entered survivor corporate America, and it turned out that I thrived. I spent a couple years with Deloitte building out cloud for their Atlanta iLab, I then moved on to General Electric where I ran the team that vended cloud accounts. I currently work as a VP at JPMorgan & Chase, focusing on the Engineering part of a cloud cell within the investment bank streamlining cloud migrations and creating a platform to solve specific business needs.

I spend a lot of my time mentoring more junior resources and new joiners. Be that creating understanding for the cloud tools and landscape at the Firm, learning new programing, automation or policy languages. I also spend time raising the level of other teams, teaching them best practices and tips and tricks about cloud.
