About

I am currently a tech lead at Meta. My area is platform infrastructure that integrates ML models and serves products including Facebook, Instagram and Oculus. My daily role is to support engineers and managers in the organization with planning, hiring, design review, and XFN collaboration. I have 10 years of industry experience in full stack development and machine learning. Within and outside Meta, I have helped hundreds of engineers landing their first jobs or getting promotion.

I offer my mentorship in the following three ways:

1. Project guidance. The objective is to complete a technical project. This project is either your startup, or for your resume portfolio. Each week, we meet to discuss ideas, technical design decisions, code review, and sometimes debugging together. Treat me as a senior engineer at your disposal so you can make the best choices throughout the journey. The project can be an open source github repo if you'd like to work in a dev team.

2. Interview preparation. The objective is to increase your chance of getting an offer in upcoming technical interviews, including coding, system design, ML, behavioral. I have been interviewing candidates for over a decade, so I'm able to help you concentrate on the most important skills and save you hundreds of hours from aimlessly solving leetcode problems. We need one hour meeting time to fully mock an interview session and feedback.

3. Career growth. The objective is to help you identify a stress-free way to succeed in a corporate environment. I expect you to come to our sessions with some questions. You will learn important topics such as scaling yourself, defining your scope, communication, driving result, and surviving the ongoing GenAI revolution.

Many of my mentees leverage my help in more than one way. For example, if you are new to software engineering or just graduated, you may want to work on a project and prepare for tech interviews in parallel.

Roger was an amazing mentor! He was very patient with me and working with my timeline - we prepared for coding, system design and behavioral together. He always gave very actionable feedback which helped me uncover things I took for granted. This helped me completely change my prep strategy to help with my weaknesses which were around time management and validation. Our mocks always felt super real and gave me the confidence to do well. He really simplified for me what the most important aspects to improve were and what is the most important when it comes to prep. This also shortened the time I needed to feel ready. Overall, learning from him gave me immense confidence that my goal was in fact achievable!

I was struggling to get feedback on why I wasn't being considered for software engineering jobs. I knew that I was smart enough but not marketing myself the right way and it was hard to know what to focus on with such a huge field. Roger narrowed down what I should be doing, gave me finite issues to focus on and was quite supportive along the way. I haven't got a full time job yet but with Roger's help I have gained enough skills and confidence to get some contracting work.
