About

I'm Yoel Frischoff — Principal & Smart Product Strategist at TheRoad, a Tel Aviv-based consultancy that helps hardware companies evolve physical products into connected, software-driven businesses. I've been shipping smart products since 1994, and over that time I've launched 10+ connected products across consumer electronics, professional equipment, medical devices, security systems, EdTech, and mobility.

My background is rooted in industrial and mechanical design, which gives me a perspective most product strategists lack: I connect the physical world's back end — logistics, operations, maintainability, unit economics — with the front end that matters to customers: positioning, perception, and value-driven business models. That end-to-end lens is what makes the strategies I build actually stick.

I work alongside founders and product leaders as a trusted strategist and fractional product manager. Whether that means defining platform strategy, validating early concepts, designing connected product roadmaps, or assembling a bespoke task force to bring a product to market — I stay close enough to influence real decisions, not just advise from a distance.

My forthcoming book, Tangibles (2026), examines how connected products — from smart home devices to industrial systems — can combine design, technology, and services into durable business models.

I can help you with:
- Smart product strategy: platform vision, connected product roadmap, competitive positioning, and business model design
- Hardware validation: avoiding prototype pitfalls and validating demand before tooling up
- Service-led business models and product–market fit for IoT and smart hardware
- Systems-level thinking: unit economics, ramp-up finance, and long-term recurring customer value

Best fit for:
- Founders and PMs at hardware or IoT companies navigating the leap from physical product to connected platform
- Product leaders integrating software, services, or digital layers into physical products
- Teams that need strategic clarity, hands-on execution, or both
