Before I became his mentee, I had been a programmer for about three years, but I never really had the confidence to build things on my own. I was mainly maintaining other people's systems rather than designing or building my own from scratch. Most of my work was with legacy code (as is often the case in corporate environments), which left some gaps in my knowledge. Under Catalin's mentorship, all of that changed. He helped me fill those knowledge gaps, especially around software architecture and building modern systems.
