After about two months of mentoring, I reached a major milestone: completing a full dialogue system, some inventory system scripts, as well as making solid progress on game world design, UI design, and game level design. He mentors in a very efficient, top-down way with starting from my game’s actual needs, then clearly identifying the knowledge and skills I should focus on, along with the materials I needed to study before practicing. This approach saved me a huge amount of time compared to typical problem-based learning. Instead of simply telling me how to write scripts, Nico consistently gave me thoughtful hints that guided me to think about the structure of my code and the overall game architecture. He leaves space for independent thinking rather than giving rigid answers, which I really appreciate.
