About this Session
An introductory call is a simple way to get to know a mentor before committing to ongoing mentorship. This session gives you the chance to ask questions, talk through your goals, and see whether the mentor’s background, communication style, and approach feel like the right fit for you. It is a low-pressure starting point designed to help you make a more confident decision.
You can use the call to share what you are working on, what kind of support you are looking for, and where you feel stuck right now. It is also a chance to understand how the mentor typically works with mentees, what kind of guidance they can offer, and whether there is a strong mutual fit. The goal is to leave the conversation with more clarity on your next step and whether you want to continue working together.
Your mentor
I've been an Engineering Manager for over a decade across small, growing, and large companies, most recently at Meta where I led an engineering team building the platform that powers third-party integrations for Meta's small-business advertisers. Before Meta I led the engineering org at ClickTime (SaaS) and managed engineering teams at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. Across those roles I've hired across all levels, run performance conversations, managed remote teams, navigated reorgs and pandemic-era leadership, and coached engineers through the IC-to-EM transition.
For the past seven years, I've mentored Engineering Managers: new leads, mid-level managers, senior EMs, and Directors. The conversations I have most often are about giving effective feedback, hiring decisions that aren't sitting right, making remote teams effective, and teams that have lost trust. Those are the hard parts of management, and where a thinking partner makes the biggest difference.
I'm based in California (Pacific Time) and usually take sessions on weekday mornings and early afternoons PT, with some flexibility for international mentees on evenings and weekends.
