About this session
An introductory call is a simple way to get to know a mentor before committing to ongoing mentorship. This session gives you the chance to ask questions, talk through your goals, and see whether the mentor’s background, communication style, and approach feel like the right fit for you. It is a low-pressure starting point designed to help you make a more confident decision.
You can use the call to share what you are working on, what kind of support you are looking for, and where you feel stuck right now. It is also a chance to understand how the mentor typically works with mentees, what kind of guidance they can offer, and whether there is a strong mutual fit. The goal is to leave the conversation with more clarity on your next step and whether you want to continue working together.
Your mentor
As a Director of Tech in multiple MNC, I have excellent experience of bridging the global and local regional teams through my whole career. The team I managed was used to be referenced as the "most integrated global-geo team that delivers smoothest ever project in the company's history...".
Sometimes engineering leaders might think the job is all about delivery with excellent quality, I would provide supplement perspective to help advance your career.
My advice would help if you're:
1. First-time manager - You should have been instructed of what is good quality of work before you start your work; but you have never been coached to be a good manager before you become one. :)
2. Reside in a matrix organization - people connection is the amplifier of your excellent work.
3. Want to advance your career and get promotion.
