About this Session

This session is perfect if you're looking for a long-term mentor, but you're just not sure how this can work – or if you already set eyes on a specific mentor, and want to get to know them beforehand.

Hello there! I am a Technical Lead and Lead Data Scientist at the University of Chicago Urban Labs. I am passionate about leveraging technology to solve human problems and to advance social good, and have many years of experience in hiring for analytic and data science teams, and extensive programming and statistical knowledge in my own capacity as a data scientist.

My own path has neither been straight or narrow, I come from an interdisciplinary background - receiving my undergraduate training in Psychology and New Media, and in Linguistics and Computer Science in graduate school. I have been at different times of my life an interaction designer, mental health professional, and data engineer.

I enjoy supporting individuals who are looking to grow in tech and data science, regardless of their background! In my sessions, I will bring the resources and best practices I've personally used during my career and tailor them to your specific needs.

This session is for me to learn more about what those needs are, and for you to get to know me better as well - and assess whether I may be a suitable mentor on your exciting professional journey. Looking forward to meeting you!

That 5-star rating is not a bot! lol! I've been with Leoson for a few months and he has been a huge support for me through my data science journey. As a rusty MS data science graduate, Leoson has guided me and motivated me through the times where I was overwhelmed and about to give up! He is very knowledgeable with key concepts and will always give resources to help you understand better. He has helped me improve my resume and given me mock interviews to ease my interview anxiety! Overall, Leoson has been the perfect mentor! I wish I had found him sooner!
