Introductory Call with

An introductory call is a simple way to get to know a mentor before committing to ongoing mentorship. This session gives you the chance to ask questions, talk through your goals, and see whether the mentor’s background, communication style, and approach feel like the right fit for you. It is a low-pressure starting point designed to help you make a more confident decision.

You can use the call to share what you are working on, what kind of support you are looking for, and where you feel stuck right now. It is also a chance to understand how the mentor typically works with mentees, what kind of guidance they can offer, and whether there is a strong mutual fit. The goal is to leave the conversation with more clarity on your next step and whether you want to continue working together.

Hello there! I am a Technical Lead and Lead Data Scientist at the University of Chicago Urban Labs. I am passionate about leveraging technology to solve human problems and to advance social good, and have many years of experience in hiring for analytic and data science teams, and extensive programming and statistical knowledge in my own capacity as a data scientist.

My own path has neither been straight or narrow, I come from an interdisciplinary background - receiving my undergraduate training in Psychology and New Media, and in Linguistics and Computer Science in graduate school. I have been at different times of my life an interaction designer, mental health professional, and data engineer.

I enjoy supporting individuals who are looking to grow in tech and data science, regardless of their background! In my sessions, I will bring the resources and best practices I've personally used during my career and tailor them to your specific needs.
