I came to Mentor Cruise to find a mentor that could help me 1) figure out if Product Management is something I have skills for 2) Find some hope I could go into Product with a background in mental health/peer counseling. Before finding Steedan I didn't know how to get into Product besides reading books, Coursera, or subscribing to newsletters. I come from a nontraditional background entering into Product. I didn't know before choosing Steedan that he had a semi non traditional path into product too. It is great to work with someone that is chill, knows a lot about Product, listens, insightful, and allows the mentee to lead the sessions. I wish I could have more sessions per pay period, but it is helpful that mentors are available through chat or email. I do think it helps to come prepared to each meeting so Steedan can help you the best he can during the 30 min meeting. I found meetings that I was prepared I felt Steedan was able to help me more and understand what I had been doing between sessions. Overall super great experience having Steedan as my mentor. Highly recommend! I'm a beginner to finding my way into Product, but if you are experienced in tech, design, or other profession that more easily lends to Product Steedan is a mentor to talk to too. :) I came out of my mentorship with a path to creating a portfolio of my mental health work with new eyes as a Product Manager despite no Product experience.
