Why did you decide to become a mentor?
Teaching and mentoring have been integral parts of my professional journey. Over the past three years, I had the privilege of mentoring and teaching software professionals at Scaler Academy, guiding them to successfully transition into the tech industry. This experience deepened my passion for sharing knowledge and making a positive impact on aspiring engineers' careers.
When I discovered MentorCruise, I saw it as the perfect platform to extend my support to a broader community. I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to design personalized learning paths for mentees, empowering them to achieve their career aspirations in software engineering. Whether it’s preparing for FAANG interviews, transitioning careers, or upskilling in coding and backend development, I am here to guide mentees every step of the way.
Since joining MentorCruise, I’ve already had the pleasure of mentoring over five individuals, assisting them with career transitions, technical interviews, and skill enhancement. Watching my mentees grow and achieve their goals is both inspiring and rewarding, and I look forward to supporting many more on their journeys.
What do mentees usually come to you for?
As a mentor, I specialize in creating actionable roadmaps for my mentees, helping them structure their goals and establish clear timelines for success. My primary focus areas include:
- FAANG Interview Preparation: Conducting mock interviews, providing detailed feedback, and offering tips for improvement.
- Career Planning: Assisting with transitions into software engineering roles, whether you're switching industries or aiming for your first tech job.
- Technical Guidance: Answering engineering-related questions, reviewing code, and helping with best practices for backend development, Java, and system design.
- Resume and Profile Optimization: Crafting resumes and LinkedIn profiles that stand out to top tech employers.
I also share insights from my experience working in tech hubs like the Netherlands and India. For those interested in exploring international opportunities, I offer guidance on adapting to different work cultures and career strategies.
One of my strengths is conducting mock technical interviews. I provide actionable feedback that helps mentees refine their problem-solving skills and boost their confidence. Additionally, I review resumes and code samples, ensuring mentees present their best selves to potential employers.
Whether you’re preparing for technical interviews with FAANG companies, planning a career shift, or aiming to sharpen your engineering skills, I’m here to help you succeed.
What are you getting out of being a mentor?
Mentoring is more than a professional activity for me—it’s a passion. Guiding others to achieve their potential in software engineering gives me immense fulfillment. Witnessing mentees progress in their careers and reach their goals is a truly rewarding experience.
As a software engineer with years of experience, I feel a strong responsibility to give back to the tech community. Mentoring allows me to share the knowledge I’ve gained from working at leading tech companies and interviewing at FAANG organizations. It’s incredibly gratifying to see mentees grow into confident, skilled engineers ready to tackle challenges and achieve their dreams.
I also grow as a professional through mentorship. It sharpens my ability to communicate complex ideas, stay updated on emerging trends in software engineering, and understand the unique challenges faced by individuals entering or navigating the tech industry.
