I am a pragmatic software engineer with 20+ years of experience, passionate about simplicity, operational and engineering excellence, DevOps, distributed systems and computer science. I am also a teacher and mentor at heart, which allows me to connect with software engineers, managers and tech product leaders of all levels of experience, helping them to grow, learn, and achieve their career goals.
I started coding in GW-BASIC with an 8086 when I was 13 years old (yes, I’m old, I’ve seen a lot). This initial experience made me realize that I wanted to stay around computers as much as I could. All this eventually led to college (Systems Engineering/Computer Science) which led to a long and fulfilling career as software developer engineer, teacher, and mentor.
My journey includes starting my own software engineering companies in Venezuela (and making a living of them for seven plus years), a five-year detour teaching Computer Science related courses at a notable Venezuelan university, and seven plus years at Amazon AWS as a Principal Engineer.

I had a second mock interview with Demian, this time focusing on system design, and it was another invaluable experience. As always, Demian’s professionalism and attention to detail were exceptional. Even though I made some mistakes during this session, he offered constructive feedback that helped me identify exactly where I went wrong and how I could improve. One specific area where he provided guidance was in using the tool for drawing diagrams. I struggled to effectively present my design due to unfamiliarity with the tool, and Demian quickly pointed it out. He explained how being comfortable with the tools used during an interview is crucial and offered suggestions on how to practice and enhance my skills in this area. Demian had a clear picture of where my weaknesses were and provided targeted advice on how to address them. His feedback wasn’t just about correcting mistakes but also about helping me build a solid foundation for tackling similar questions in the future. He highlighted areas I needed to focus on, providing clarity and direction on what to improve next. Once again, Demian’s mentorship was outstanding, and I left the session feeling more confident and better prepared. His ability to pinpoint weaknesses and offer actionable solutions makes him an exceptional mentor for anyone looking to excel in technical interviews.
