I am an engineering leader with 17+ years of experience who scaled Snap's notification system 100x to send 5 billion daily notifications and architected the YouTube Partner Program which generates billions in annual revenue. I am now focused on using AI to build the next generation of development tools.

// AI project highlights - solo development
The future of development will be an act of high-level direction, with autonomous AI agents handling over 90% of the coding, testing, and review. I've built multiple products/prototypes to prove this out (https://github.com/jleechanorg)
- Alpha launch of Consensus ML a multi AI research agent (http://consensus-ml.ai)
- Built a GenAI role-playing game that solved for long-term narrative drift, maintaining a coherent story for over 100 turns (pre-launch).
- Created an open-source natural language framework using Claude Code for a team of autonomous AI agents (3-5 coders, 4 reviewers) to collaborate on complex projects.
Generated over 900 pull requests in one month with a median merge time of 42 minutes and ~70% unit test coverage. https://github.com/jleechanorg/claude-commands

// My key professional achievements include:

Snap Inc. (Software Engineering Manager, 2018-Present): I scaled the notification system 100x from 50 million to 5 billion daily messages by leading its re-architecture from a monolith to a microservice platform. I co-designed an ML pipeline for notification ranking, grew my organization to 24 engineers peak (notifications + profile), and now shifted to focus on solely leading the 12-person Profiles team, a core product surface viewed by over 300 million daily users.

YouTube / Google (Staff Software Engineer, 2008-2018): As the Founding Architect of the YouTube Partner Program, I designed and built the core systems that created the modern creator economy, enabling it to scale to millions of partners and generate billions in annual revenue. I later served as Tech Lead for YouTube Notifications, scaling its delivery to billions daily.

I hold several key patents from my time at Google in areas like video revenue sharing and content recommendation. I graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo.

The prospect of building a tool seemed both exciting and daunting. I have no software development skills but have a lot of experience in marketing and advertising. That's where Jeff came in, helping me navigate this new challenge. At the start, I wasn't sure if I could really do this because I knew only a little about software development. But Jeff was encouraging and knew how to make things simple for me. He could simplify complex tech ideas into something I could understand. No matter when I needed help, Jeff was there to guide me through each step, making sure I was keeping up. He helped me piece together my project from understanding what I needed to do, who to hire, how to manage developers and how to design it well. It was challenging, but Jeff's practical tasks and clear explanations helped me apply what I was learning directly to building the tool. There were moments when I felt overwhelmed and considered stopping. However, Jeff was always a supportive mentor. He encouraged me to think like a problem solver, which really helped me push through the tough times. The tool I built with Jeff's help is finally live. It represents not just a functional product but my growth in a new field. I'm looking forward to improving it further, using the foundations he helped me build. For anyone new to tech, having a mentor like Jeff ca be transformative. It’s about more than learning new skills; it’s about building confidence and learning to tackle challenges head-on. I started with experience in marketing and now, thanks to Jeff, I’ve turned that into a successful venture into technology.
