I have been programming for 12 years, working as a software engineer for 8 out of those.
I have worked a startup and at a larger company. I have worked with problems at scale as well as solutions from scratch. What I have learnt along the way are a combination of what I learnt in school and what I learnt on the job. The latter is harder to learn for someone who is looking to enter into the industry, especially those who have a non-traditional background (non-STEM).
There is a demand/supply gap in the industry today and it’s not very difficult to learn the skills necessary to succeed in this field. I hope to make the transition into this industry easier for newcomers, it's easy with some direction!
