I'm currently an Engineering leader at Meta, I've previously served as a Director of Engineering at Upwork and held leadership roles at companies such as Pinterest, PayPal, Snap, and Spotify in domains ranging from shopping and crypto to messaging, video creation, and ads.

Mentee here, reflecting on the last few months :) ! I wanted to add to my earlier review based on my recent work with Seb, highlighting another layer of his qualities that I discovered. Again, Seb is an immensely invested mentor. By that, I mean he gives personalized feedback based on your abilities and specific situation. He brings a perceptive coaching style, where he is able to observe how you come across without imposing his own approach. He chooses the right leverage points with precision, targeting specific gaps to work on. He brings sharp awareness from years in tech. This time, he helped me prep for behavioural and technical interviews. In this specific bucket, he has actual hiring manager experience, meaning he knows how evaluation really works and how to map it to your specific experience. Through detailed communication analysis, he was able to evaluate how I explain concepts and identify exactly what to adjust. He taught me to read the goal behind an interviewer's question and calibrate my stories to display the seniority I'm actually at. Definitely Seb has a direct communication style. You'll get real feedback, not comfort :) Seb also helped me with decision-making when it comes to long-term career success and goals. Words in any language fall short here, so I'll borrow from Marcus Aurelius to describe his mentorship style: "If, at some point in your life, you should come across anything better than justice, prudence, self-control, courage... embrace it without reservations... and enjoy it to the full." His guidance consistently reflects these exact values. Pretty rare to find a mentor who embodies these principles so fully. I'll continue to absorb his feedback through our mentorship and report back with more of his mentorship qualities!

Sebastiano is a fantastic mentor - what a relief it was to be able to chat with someone friendly, grounded, and empathic, but also gives it to you straight. I know I grew my skills during my time with Seb. Even if you have mentors within your org, like a manager or a step manager, it's especially valuable to get a 3rd party perspective on the dynamics of managing and working with ours within a tech org. Seb helped me keep on track with my career goals and took me further and faster than I would have accomplished on my own.
