When I started, I was someone learning to code independently with no real roadmap. David gave me something that is hard to find: the actual tools and workflows that professionals use, not a watered-down version of them. He never dumbed things down or made me comfortable in a way that kept me small. He consistently pushed me toward the highest leverage work and trusted me to rise to it. What stood out most over the long run was his patience and his humanity. Programming is an emotionally demanding craft, and David understood that. During stretches that were difficult not just technically but personally, he showed up with the kind of kindness that goes beyond the job description. I will always be grateful for that. After ten months I have reached a point where I feel equipped to move forward on my own, and that is entirely because of the foundation he helped me build. That is the best thing you can say about a mentor. If you are serious about growing as a developer and want someone who will treat you like a professional from day one, David is the person.” Read more Show less

He is a kind, supportive, empathetic, technically strong, and laser-focused mentor. I got back to coding after a 1-year sabbatical, and I couldn't have made a better choice than asking David to be my mentor. He is straight to the point when he needs to, but he knows when to stop and listen. He is the type of guy who has strong opinions about coding, but won't shove them down your throat, and is always willing to experiment. He never missed a single session, so this is not just some side gig for extra income. He is really passionate about mentoring people. He constantly uses words of encouragement, such as "that's a great question" or "I think you're doing it the right way". I always look forward to our sessions. I'll have him as a mentor as long as he'll have me as his mentee! We're making amazing progress together, and I'm feeling confident I can make my much-desired comeback to the industry. Thank you so much, David!” Read more Show less

He’s a great communicator, always knows where to look when problems come up, and is an excellent developer overall. We’ve worked together for several months, and I’ve genuinely felt in good hands the entire time. He’s been consistent throughout the project and always clear about expectations. I came here looking for someone trustworthy to get the job done, and I definitely found that and more. Not only do I appreciate the quality of his work, but he’s also, genuinely, an excellent teacher, something that’s surprisingly hard to find. He’s always willing to explain things clearly and share his knowledge, which made working with him even more valuable. Thank you David! ” Read more Show less
