None of them were related to tech. I'd started posting on LinkedIn and written a book on design. But I couldn't figure out how to leverage that into coaching. Over the course of a year, Denis and I met every week. Over that time I brainstormed ideas, validated them, tried live streaming, tested different content ideas, wrote, submitted CFPs to conferences, embraced my dream as a conference speaker. I snagged my first conference talk in May, this led to another conference approaching me to be a speaker. I niched down with my content, focussing on observability in Rails, which was a solution to pain I'd always experienced. I prepared a basic outline for a workshop and validated it by pre-selling at the conference at a 90% discount. To my amazement and excitement, FOUR people bought! It was only $60 but it's the first money I'd taken for my observability workshop and showed that there was a real pain. Finally! I had a niche and a product that I saw people want. People raved about my talk and it was the number one focus at the afterparty. In September I'll do my second talk and I've got CFPs in to do more. Our release cadence was all over the place. Sometimes we would not release anything for weeks, and it was making it very difficult to estimate the impact of our initiatives. It only took one week being coached by Denis to start seeing results. Since the very beginning, we started releasing every single week, sometimes more than once. Additionally, I was able to carve out more time to work on strategic activities, while empowering my team to make technical decisions on their own. Before you will get answer, Denis will lead you around your problem to show you future benefits and cons - this actually helps you to get answer yourself.
