About this session
An introductory call is a simple way to get to know a mentor before committing to ongoing mentorship. This session gives you the chance to ask questions, talk through your goals, and see whether the mentor’s background, communication style, and approach feel like the right fit for you. It is a low-pressure starting point designed to help you make a more confident decision.
You can use the call to share what you are working on, what kind of support you are looking for, and where you feel stuck right now. It is also a chance to understand how the mentor typically works with mentees, what kind of guidance they can offer, and whether there is a strong mutual fit. The goal is to leave the conversation with more clarity on your next step and whether you want to continue working together.
Your mentor
I've spent 15+ years leading ML and engineering organizations at Atlassian, Uber, Apple, Amazon, and eBay, mainly hiring, promoting, and coaching engineers at every level, from new grads to senior managers. I've sat on hundreds of hiring panels and promo committees, so I know exactly how these decisions get made and can help you see your situation the way decision-makers do.
This intro call is a low-pressure way to figure out if we're a good fit. Bring your hardest career question, whether it's getting unstuck at your current level, breaking into ML, weighing a move into management, or preparing for interviews and you'll leave with honest feedback and at least one concrete next step, regardless of whether we continue working together.
I typically hold these sessions on weekday evenings and weekends, Pacific Time.
