About this session

An introductory call is a simple way to get to know a mentor before committing to ongoing mentorship. This session gives you the chance to ask questions, talk through your goals, and see whether the mentor’s background, communication style, and approach feel like the right fit for you. It is a low-pressure starting point designed to help you make a more confident decision.

You can use the call to share what you are working on, what kind of support you are looking for, and where you feel stuck right now. It is also a chance to understand how the mentor typically works with mentees, what kind of guidance they can offer, and whether there is a strong mutual fit. The goal is to leave the conversation with more clarity on your next step and whether you want to continue working together.

Your mentor

I’m a Data Engineer at Amazon (AWS). I went from junior analyst to L5 in two and a half years, and since August 2025 I’ve helped eight MentorCruise mentees land data and software roles.

This call is a 15-minute diagnostic. You tell me where you are and what you’re trying to get to, I tell you honestly what’s in the way and what I’d do first. If I think you need something other than mentorship, I’ll say so and point you somewhere useful.

It’s a good fit if you’re an analyst or even a non-tech professional trying to move into data engineering, a DE/SWE targeting FAANG-level companies, or a junior/mid-level engineer who wants to make it to the next level. If you’re already sure you want ongoing mentorship, apply to a plan instead; the trial week covers this and more.

I run these weekday evenings (5–8pm Pacific) and weekend mornings (8–11am). I usually reply within a day.
