I have been a UX across several different companies and industries, including Meta, eBay, Intuit, Fidelity, MathWorks and Zapier. I'm an author of several papers, articles, and 2 books about UX Research and have both BS and MS degrees in Human Factors/Human-Computer Interaction (basically UX). I've been in research teams large (600+) and small (< 10), including centralized and embedded team models. I've also managed programs for research tooling and research education.
As a UX Research mentor, I can help you from soup to nuts-- How to start and adapt to a new career in UXR including interviews and portfolios; navigate and build UX research relationships and teams; approach and engage your stakeholders; bring a user-centric POV to your organization; identify research goals, choose methods, conduct, report and act on research results. I have conducted all types of methods from usability testing to concept testing, diary studies, card sorting, interviews, participatory design workshops, interviews, unmoderated (quant, qual and mixed) testing, contextual inquiries, and more.
For Designers-- Although I'm not a designer by trade, I have a general UX education and background, I've worked and partnered with designers my whole career, and have a keen sense of design. I am happy to give some tips on general design approach/workflows/IA as well as critique your designs. I've been told I'm a great set of eyes for that! What I can't do is guide you on the technicalities of using design tools, design systems, or more UI/Visual-design focused coaching.
I would also like to think I'm approachable, and love giving my expertise and helping partner with people to grow. I've served in a mentor in all of my research roles and have enjoyed seeing that impact. I prefer being an IC researcher and I've had nothing but excitement and pride to see my once-interns now thriving as research managers and execs. I am happy to help you get there as well!
