Emma Brillhart is a Senior Engineering Manager at Honeycomb, where she leads the App Observability team. Over the past decade, she's built and led engineering teams at companies ranging from pre-seed to Series D - including Zapier, MainStreet, and Endgame - and spent five years as a software engineer and engineering director at Formidable (now NearForm Commerce), shipping projects for Starbucks, Nintendo, and 538. She's given past talks at React Advanced, React Europe, and HalfStack PHX, as well as several local meetups in Seattle and Phoenix.
She's navigated reorgs, layoffs, rapid scaling, and the messy middle of startup engineering leadership firsthand. She now coaches and advises engineering managers on leveraging AI in their workflows, building sustainable team systems, and making the transition from IC to manager (and beyond).
