Suman Chatterjee

Hi, I’m Suman Chatterjee, and my journey in data and analytics has been a blend of hard work, learning, and seizing opportunities along the way. I grew up on the outskirts of Kolkata, India, where my fascination with numbers led me to pursue a Master’s in Statistics, graduating at the top of my class in 2005. This achievement set the foundation for my career in data and analytics, which has taken me from Kolkata to Bangalore and eventually to London.

My professional journey began in Kolkata, where I started working in the emerging field of analytics using SAS and from there, I moved to Bangalore, India’s Silicon Valley. I focused on marketing analytics, building predictive models and customer insights that helped businesses make data-driven decisions. Bangalore was where I learned to blend technical skills with practical business needs, working closely with teams to turn data into actionable insights.

The next big step in my career was moving to London, one of the world's leading financial hubs. Here, I expanded my expertise in the financial services sector, working on analytics projects that shaped strategies, improved customer experiences, and drove business growth. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills in marketing analytics, data visualisation, and strategic decision-making, always focused on bridging the gap between data and real-world business challenges.

Alongside my technical journey, I had the privilege of being part of the Stanford LEAD program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where I learned alongside professionals from 53 countries. This experience was transformative, enhancing my leadership skills and providing fresh perspectives on driving change through data.

With over 18 years of experience, I’m passionate about mentoring and sharing what I’ve learned. I’ve been where many aspiring data professionals are now—starting small, moving cities, and navigating new challenges.
