Tracy Romano

I had recently made the transition from academia to industry and was feeling rather lost as I'm working for a startup with no other data scientists to help guide me. I was primarily looking for guidance as to what's expected of a data scientist and understanding how to construct projects and manage stakeholders. Tracy was the ideal mentor because of her background, also having an academic background and a wealth of experience. Tracy was very helpful in putting many of my concerns at ease. We used some of our video calls to talk through the lifecycle of a data science project and it immediately gave me a much better understanding of my progress and where I needed to improve. Her advice has been crucial in me establishing my role within my startup. From very broad questions about how to manage/communicate stakeholders to specific questions about data science/model building, Tracy was able to answer them all. I would often send her emails and get responses within a couple of days (the timezone difference being a blocker) which addressed all my questions. My communication style is often quite chaotic, moving with my train of thought and Tracy kept up and was able to keep up which was very helpful during our calls. She was very generous with her time (she was definitely not just running down the clock) and you could see she was caring about me as a professional and a person. Very highly recommend Tracy for anyone feeling lost and looking for direction!

Even though I have extensive experience in data, I have been wanting to pivot to the field of data science. In my search for a mentor I came across Tracys profile as a mentor. She is very impressive, knowledgeable and experienced. She is a great mentor !! I had a lot of doubts entering this program but she has been very instrumental in clarifying them at every step of the way. I would definitely recommend Tracy to anyone wanting to further their data science journey.
