Sometimes, a strategy is needed to accomplish a future career change, or simply to get further in your current position. Should you go back to school? Look for a new job? Learn a new set of skills by yourself? Become a freelancer?
One of our mentors could be the outside view you need. They understand the challenges that come with a career change, and are happy to help you come up with a solid strategy on how to reach your goals.
I've mentored 100+ ambitious people throughout my career; both as a start-up / scale-up leader, and as through various mentoring platforms.
An essential part of my current and past day-to-day, is to help employees / mentees in reaching their personal- and career goals, which often involves a promotion, a career change, going freelance or starting their own business.
Such a task is often unmanageable for the mentee by itself and indeed, should include outside input and sparring (I've done this myself on numerous occasions).
Reaching long term goals is difficult and requires a solid strategy, breaking down the steps needed to reach their overall personal vision.
I've helped employees / mentees through the following paths;
- From developer / sales-rep / customer success / xyz to Product manager (no matter the background, how to start a career within Product)
- From Product manager to CEO
- From developer to Technical director or CTO
- From customer-success rep to Customer-success manager
