I've interviewed innumerable engineers over the years in my various technical leadership roles and can quickly identify what makes a good or bad resume. In my opinion, a resume provides enough to get the hiring manager interested in you but doesn't tell everything - because it's important is talk to them in person, to ask questions that help you answer what they want to learn.
