DS Career Transition Review with Ian

This was my first experience working with a mentor and Ian was amazing. He made me feel welcomed and at ease. I felt comfortable freely discussing all the challenges I was facing in my career. Ian was a great sounding board, offering words of encouragement and making sure I was on the right track - it really helped to boost my confidence.

I had my first resume feedback session with Ian, and it was very good! He reviewed my resume beforehand and provided actionable insights without wasting any time. He explained each point thoroughly, ensuring I fully understood his suggestions. In addition to resume feedback he shared valuable tips about resource and interview. I'm excited to apply his advice and improve my resume.

My goal of the mentorship was to get a head start in the transition from Data Analytics to Data Science. From Ian, I got that and more! Ian helped me create a customized curriculum with books and online courses based on my current knowledge, and also assisted me in defining and starting my Machine Learning project, which I had been struggling with. Finally, after multiple months of mentoring, I decided to apply for an online Data Science Master's program at one of the prestigious US universities, where I got accepted thanks to Ian's guidance and support. I cannot recommend Ian enough!

Ian is really good at listening to the problems discussed and allowing the mentee to think about the solution from different viewpoints. He also documents the issues discussed to create a progressive plan for improvement. He is really friendly and approachable and I would recommend him to any data person looking to improve their soft skills and technical skills.
