I've been a hiring manager for over 10 years now, and I still actively interview candidates. In my last couple of startups, I also set up the whole interview process from scratch. My focus has mostly been on the behavioral side of tech interviews—things like how candidates communicate, how they make decisions, how they handle feedback or conflict, and how they work with others. It's easy to focus just on coding skills, but in fast-paced teams, how someone collaborates and handles ambiguity is just as important, if not more. A solid behavioral interview helps surface that.
