I worked with Gus over the past year to transition from my Product Manager role at an early stage startup to a much larger, and more sophisticated organisation. At the time, I felt like I didn't understand enough about Product, the market, and even the process of job hunting to succeed in finding a job I'd love (particularly given the job market seemed to be going through a correction). Gus was invaluable in helping me systematically tackle each of these perceived 'unknowns', and gain a greater understanding of how to present myself and my experiences to have the best chance of securing a role. Together we looked at: 1. What experience I did have and how to confidently/clearly communicate it 2. What experience/skills I was missing, and how to fill those gaps or justify them in an interview 3. What kind of companies I'd be best suited to, and how to target them 4. How best to 'pitch' myself as a 'product' to this 'market' 5. How to play to my strengths in the interview process and stand out from the crowd It goes without saying that Gus is incredibly experienced with all of the usual job hunt/career transition stuff (rewriting CVs, practicing interview questions, etc.), but Gus' value is much more than that. He was incredibly flexible and understanding throughout the process, allowing us to pause when other priorities halted progress, or jump on last minute calls if something urgent came up. Job hunting can be stressful, and he was very good at offering that less practical but equally valuable emotional support and encouragement. After working together for ~6 months, I ended up landing an exceptional role at a new company (probably a better job than I thought achievable at the time), and given how great my experience was working with him, we kept up the mentoring relationship for the first few months in the new role.

When I first contacted Gus, it was because I realised my visibility within a remote, tech SaaS company was far too low. Working with him for -- almost a year now -- has been invaluable. It helped to have a sounding board to talk about the rollercoaster ride of being a PM, deciding between some difficult roles/projects that were offered to me, and have someone who was able to offer a second perspective when I was stuck in a single narrative. I achieved my career goals with Gus -- I increased my visibility, started working closer with the C-Suite, received more strategic projects, and was also offered people management responsibilities. All of which helped me decide what I wanted to do next!

I took part in a Data Analytics Bootcamp, where I had the chance to have Gus as my mentor at the end of the program. He helped me navigate a toxic job situation and find clarity in my career direction. Even after the program ended, he continued to be my mentor, providing regular one-on-one sessions where we discussed goals and strengths. His empathetic approach and tailored advice boosted my confidence and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. With his support, I landed an amazing job within just 2 weeks. Gus' mentorship had a profound impact on my personal and professional growth, and I'm grateful for his guidance in helping me reach my potential.
