About this Session
This session involves you and your mentor working collaboratively to develop coding skills, troubleshoot coding issues, or complete coding projects. In this session, a career coach with expertise in coding and software development will pair with you to work on a coding exercise or project.
Throughout the session, you and your mentor will work together to write, review, and test code, providing feedback. The mentor may observe the session, offering feedback and guidance as needed to help you overcome coding challenges and improve your skills. The mentor will, however, not write code on your behalf.
My primary role is to facilitate and guide you in your coding tasks and projects. I won't be writing code for you; instead, I'll provide guidance, best practices, and answer your questions to help you develop your coding skills.
Here's how our mentoring sessions will typically go:
Establishing Roles: At the beginning of each session, we'll set expectations and roles. It's important that we work collaboratively, with you taking an active role in coding and problem-solving.
Coding Guidance: I'll offer guidance on the coding process, recommend best practices, and provide tips for using coding tools and resources effectively.
Question and Answer: Feel free to ask any questions you have during our sessions. I'm here to help you understand concepts and overcome challenges, but I won't write code for you. We'll work through problems together.
Reflection and Learning: Throughout our sessions, I'll encourage you to reflect on your coding process and learning. We'll discuss what you've learned and how you can apply that knowledge in future coding projects.
