About this Session

Having a good portfolio on hand is key for any designer in the job market. Even if you're not looking for a new position right now, having an impressive portfolio that presenty your experience to future potential employers is always good to have.

In this session, a mentor with design and hiring experience will go over your portfolio and give you actionable points on how to improve it. You will be able to follow along and make these changes right away, hopefully leaving you with a top-notch portfolio at the end of the sessions.

Hi! I’m a Principal Applied Scientist with 9.5+ years of experience at Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco, and Oracle, where I’ve not only led technical teams but also been actively involved in reviewing candidate portfolios and technical project showcases during the hiring process. I’ve built portfolios myself over the years (ranging from GitHub repos, research publications, system design case studies, to product demos), and I know what hiring managers actually look for when evaluating a candidate’s body of work.

In this 30-minute session, I’ll review your portfolio and give you actionable feedback on how to highlight the right projects, structure your content, and present your work in a way that aligns with industry best practices. Whether it’s a GitHub project portfolio, data science case studies, ML experiments, writing samples, or a design-focused showcase, I’ll help refine it so it communicates credibility, creativity, and job readiness.

I usually conduct these sessions on weekday evenings (US ET) and weekends, but I try to stay flexible across time zones.
