Single session with Andrey

I am currently in the process of changing jobs and asked Andrey to conduct a behavioral mock interview. Andrey works for Amazon—a company that places significant emphasis on behavioral interviews during their hiring process. He has experience on both sides of the table, as an interviewer and as a job seeker, giving him a holistic understanding of what is required. He approached our mock interview with the seriousness of a real one, asking pertinent questions and challenging my responses. Afterwards, I received very detailed feedback highlighting areas for improvement. Additionally, Andrey provided me with tools and advice to enhance my storytelling skills. Andrey is a great mentor! I was going to assess my skills to tell a good story which is required for Amazon interviews. First of all, he clarified what is my exact goal and when I want to achieve it. Then he conducted a mock interview, which is especially valuable because he is an actual interviewer at Amazon. Then he provided an extensive feedback with actionable items. Part of the feedback was provided later the same day which demonstrates a high level of commitment from Andrey’s side. His feedback covered everything, both the presentation and the content, what’s exactly should be highlighted, what was missing and what were the unnecessary details. He clearly explained what are the expectations from the interviewer side, and how the decision on passing or failing the candidate is made. Also, he provided some additional materials to review, which have proven to be effective. This is a huge amount of work to be done on my side, and that’s exactly what I wanted to get from the session, the direction on how to most effectively use my preparation time. And we decided to schedule a follow-up session to check the progress and to refine my subsequent preparation steps.

I was looking for a mentor with a background similar to mine but with much more experience. I wanted someone who could understand my questions and offer advice based on their own career journey. During our session, Andrey was a great listener. He asked thoughtful and detailed questions—things I hadn’t thought about myself. This really helped me see my situation from a different perspective. Andrey also shared how he made decisions in his own career, which was super helpful. It gave me new ideas and a clearer picture of what I could do next. The session was really helpful, and I feel more confident about my next steps. I’m glad I had the chance to talk to Andrey and would definitely recommend him as a mentor!
