Climbing the QA career ladder, I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges QA professionals face, from limited career growth to being undervalued in teams. As I navigated these obstacles and achieved my own career goals, I became passionate about helping others do the same. My goal is to support QA professionals in overcoming challenges, developing their skills, and advancing in their careers. Since this my role has been reinforced by how impacted QA professionals’ life positively.
At university time as Computer Science student, i studied one course called Quality Engineering. This widened my perspective that the software world is not just about coding. Following that course the university in partnership with a software company arranged something called Career day, a day where we go to this company and shadow an employee to see how real life work go. The employee I shadowed was QA. And i just loved it. I loved the focus on business scenarios, logic and customer. On that day I realized that this is what I want to do. After graduation, i applied to QA role in that same company.
QA professionals seek my guidance for creating career roadmaps, transitioning into QA, and preparing for interviews and CV reviews. Many also come to me for support in handling difficult work environments, overcoming imposter syndrome, and building confidence in their roles. Additionally, I provide hands-on training in essential QA topics such as test planning, test automation, and quality strategies, equipping them with the skills needed to excel. Through personalized mentorship, I help them not only develop technical expertise but also navigate the complexities of career growth, ensuring they have the tools and mindset to succeed in the long run.
I was fortunate to see 95% of my mentees achieve their career goals, mainly by excelling in interviews after strong training on key QA topics. Many also came to me feeling frustrated with difficult work situations. Over time, I watched them gain confidence, improve their ability to handle workplace challenges, and develop better conflict resolution skills by focusing on doing the right thing. The definition of success varies by each mentorship.
Being a mentor nurtures patience and strengthens the ability to explain concepts from the ground up, which not only helps others but also deepens your own understanding. Teaching and guiding mentees through their challenges require clarity and adaptability, making you a better communicator and problem solver. But most importantly, mentorship fosters a deep sense of fulfillment, knowing that you’ve played a role in someone else’s success. Seeing a mentee progress from uncertainty to confidence, land a job, or navigate workplace challenges is incredibly rewarding. It reinforces the value of knowledge-sharing and reminds you that professional growth is not just about personal achievements but also about lifting others up along the way.
