Why did you decide to become a mentor?
Mentorship has been a game-changer in my career. Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors who challenged me, guided me through tough decisions, and helped me grow as an engineer and leader. Their support shaped who I am today, and I believe in paying it forward by helping others navigate their paths.
I see mentorship as more than just giving advice—it’s about unlocking potential, building confidence, and providing clarity in moments of uncertainty. Whether it’s tackling technical challenges, transitioning into leadership, or breaking into tech, I aim to offer practical insights, structured guidance, and real-world strategies to help mentees achieve their goals.
With years of experience leading teams, scaling engineering processes, and mentoring engineers, I know the impact that the right guidance at the right time can have. That’s why I’m here—to help others grow, thrive, and build the careers they aspire to.
How did you get your career start?
My journey into software engineering began with pure curiosity and a love for problem-solving. At just 10 years old, I started coding games in BASIC on an old MSX computer—what began as a fun hobby quickly became a passion.
As I explored the endless possibilities of technology, I became fascinated by how software could shape the world. This drive led me to pursue a degree in Computer Science, where I deepened my knowledge of software development, algorithms, and system architecture.
My professional career kicked off in a Research & Development role, where I worked on diverse, cutting-edge projects across different technologies and domains. This experience allowed me to experiment, learn, and build solutions that pushed technical boundaries.
Over the years, my career evolved as I transitioned through startups, mid-sized companies, and large-scale enterprises. With each step, I discovered that beyond writing great code, I loved building great teams. That realization led me into technical leadership, where I now focus on scaling teams, optimizing engineering processes, and mentoring engineers to grow and succeed.
What do mentees usually come to you for?
Mentees come to me for guidance, clarity, and support in various aspects of their technical and career growth. Whether they are refining their engineering skills, transitioning into leadership, or navigating career changes, I provide tailored mentorship to help them achieve their goals.
Technical Growth – Mastering Elixir, Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, system architecture, and backend scalability.
Career Transitions – Breaking into tech, preparing for interviews, and positioning for new opportunities.
Leadership Development – Becoming an effective team lead, managing teams, and fostering collaboration.
Building a Healthy Work Culture – Learning best practices for remote work, communication, and team dynamics.
My Mentorship Approach
I believe that mentorship is not one-size-fits-all—it should be structured yet flexible, adapting to each mentee’s unique goals, challenges, and learning style. I focus on:
Personalized guidance tailored to the mentee’s specific challenges.
Actionable advice with clear next steps for continuous improvement.
Ongoing support to help mentees stay accountable and confident in their growth.
With my background in engineering leadership, team scaling, and hands-on technical expertise, I help mentees not only excel in their roles but also build meaningful, long-term careers in tech.
What's been your favourite mentorship success story so far?
One of my most rewarding mentorship experiences was with a career switcher who relocated from her home country to Germany, determined to break into the tech industry. She reached out to me feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of starting fresh in a new country, learning new technologies, and navigating the hiring process from scratch.
Over the course of a year-long mentorship, we worked together to build her technical foundation, refine her approach to job applications and interviews, and gain confidence in her problem-solving and coding skills. She dedicated herself to an intensive BootCamp program, and I supported her through technical discussions, code reviews, and interview preparation.
The moment that stood out most was when she landed a position at a prestigious high-tech company—a testament to her hard work, resilience, and willingness to embrace challenges. Seeing her growth, from self-doubt to thriving in a competitive tech environment, reinforced why I’m so passionate about mentorship.
This experience reminded me that mentorship isn’t just about sharing knowledge—it’s about guiding people toward the confidence and skills they need to transform their careers.
What are you getting out of being a mentor?
Mentorship has been one of the most fulfilling and transformative aspects of my career. Being a mentor allows me to give back to the tech community, helping engineers and aspiring leaders grow, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. Seeing someone gain confidence, land their dream job, or step into a leadership role because of our work together is incredibly rewarding.
Beyond the impact on others, mentorship has also shaped my growth in meaningful ways:
Strengthened my leadership skills – Teaching and guiding others has made me a better communicator, problem-solver, and team leader.
Broadened my perspectives – Working with mentees from different backgrounds has expanded my understanding of engineering challenges, industry trends, and career journeys.
Reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning – Answering mentees’ questions pushes me to stay curious, refine my knowledge, and continuously improve.
Ultimately, being a mentor isn’t just about sharing knowledge—it’s about creating impact, building confidence in others, and fostering a culture of learning and support. It’s a journey that has enriched my career and my life, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to help someone take the next step in theirs.
